DELSOL goes paid: what changes and what to do next

·

For years, thousands of SMEs, freelancers and accounting firms in Spain managed their invoicing, accounting and payroll with Factusol, Contasol and Nominasol without paying a single euro. The freemium model of Software del Sol (DELSOL) was for more than a decade a rarity in the business software market: functional, regularly updated and completely free tools for a single user. That scenario changed in February 2021, when the Italian group TeamSystem acquired DELSOL and began a deep transformation of its commercial model. If you have been using these programmes for some time and are starting to encounter barriers or restrictions, this article explains exactly what has changed, what your options are and how to make the best decision for your business.

From free to subscription: what happened and why

TeamSystem S.p.A. is the largest Italian business management software group for SMEs. With more than 3.1 million customers in Europe and estimated revenues of around 1,150 million euros in 2025, the company has invested more than 180 million euros in Spain since 2021 through nine strategic acquisitions. The purchase of DELSOL was the first and most significant in terms of user base, precisely because that enormous community of free users represented an extraordinary distribution asset.

The change of model was neither abrupt nor immediate. TeamSystem maintained the free basic version of the programmes for a time while developing the paid plans and cloud infrastructure. However, as the months went by, the free versions gradually lost functionality, access to tax updates and official support. Today, anyone who wants to use Factusol, Contasol or Nominasol with full capabilities — especially to comply with current tax obligations — needs to subscribe to one of the available paid plans.

This change raises legitimate questions: how much do the programmes cost now? Is it worth staying with DELSOL or switching? What about Verifactu and electronic invoicing? Below we answer all these questions with concrete data.

What products does DELSOL offer today and what do they cost

Following integration into TeamSystem, the DELSOL catalogue retains its main brands but has been reorganised around two modalities: the desktop version (annual licence) and the cloud version (monthly subscription per user). The prices shown below are indicative figures published by the manufacturer and may vary depending on the sales channel, number of users and current promotions. Always consult an official partner to obtain the definitive price.

Product For whom Indicative price (manufacturer) Modality
Factusol Cloud Freelancers and commercial SMEs From ~€19.50/month up to ~€82/month Monthly cloud subscription
Contasol Standard SMEs and accounting firms (1 user) ~€155/year Annual desktop licence
Contasol Elite Accounting firms with multiple clients ~€415/year Annual desktop licence
Contasol Cloud Remote teams From ~€21/user/month Monthly cloud subscription
Nominasol SMEs and payroll firms Consult partner Annual licence (Windows only)
DELSOL 360 SMEs wanting invoicing + accounting + payroll Consult partner Integrated cloud suite

All products in the DELSOL catalogue have moved to a paid subscription model. Contasol offers a 30-day free trial with full access to its features, after which a paid plan is required to continue using the programme. To work with SII, connect to the AEAT's Immediate Information Supply system or comply with Verifactu requirements when they come into force, an active and up-to-date paid plan is essential.

The real impact on your business: which features now require payment

Beyond the price, what concerns many long-standing DELSOL users is knowing what they will lose if they do not update their licence. The answer varies by product, but there is a clear pattern:

Verifactu: dates you cannot ignore in 2027

One of the most pressing reasons to regularise your invoicing software is the entry into force of Verifactu. Royal Decree 1007/2023, developed within the framework of the anti-fraud law, establishes new technical requirements for billing information systems. It is important to clarify that there is no homologation process on the part of the AEAT: the mechanism is a responsible declaration by the software manufacturer, who commits to complying with the technical specifications of the regulation.

The mandatory compliance dates are:

If you use Factusol to issue invoices and your version is not adapted to Verifactu by that date, you will be in breach of the regulation. Updating your licence now — or migrating to an already-adapted cloud solution — is the simplest way to avoid that problem. It is also worth remembering that SII (already in force for companies with more than 6 million euros in annual turnover) and Verifactu are mutually exclusive mechanisms: if you are already on SII, you do not need to implement Verifactu.

At Summum Sistemas, as Official TeamSystem Partner, we help companies assess which DELSOL plan suits them, migrate their historical data without losses and correctly configure their programmes to comply with Verifactu before the deadlines.

Stay with DELSOL or switch software?

The shift from free to subscription forces many users to reconsider whether DELSOL is still the best option for them. The answer is not universal: it depends on the size of your company, the volume of invoices and payrolls you manage, and whether you need additional features such as ERP, CRM or integration with an online shop.

When it makes sense to stay with DELSOL

If you are a small company or freelancer with basic invoicing and accounting needs, the Factusol and Contasol plans are price-competitive and offer a minimal learning curve for those already familiar with the programmes. Migrating to another software involves time, training and potential data import costs. If the change brings no clear advantages, it is not worth it.

When it is worth evaluating alternatives

If your company has grown and you need advanced warehouse management, production, distribution routes or e-commerce integration, basic DELSOL versions may fall short. In that case, within the TeamSystem ecosystem itself there are more powerful options such as Distrito K (ERP for distribution and manufacturing) or the Aplifisa suite for professional firms. Outside the ecosystem, solutions such as Holded, Sage 50 or Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central cover more complex needs.

The advantage of having a partner who knows the complete ecosystem

One of the problems with buying directly from the manufacturer is that nobody analyses whether the product truly fits your operation. A specialist partner in TeamSystem can objectively compare the options within the group — Factusol, Contasol, DELSOL 360, Aplifisa, Distrito K — and recommend the one that best suits you without selling you something you do not need. They also manage the migration of historical data, initial configuration and team training, avoiding the typical start-up errors that cost time and money.

Summum Sistemas has been implementing and supporting business management software for SMEs in Castilla y León and the Canary Islands since 2007. As Official TeamSystem Partner, we have direct access to DELSOL and Aplifisa programmes and an in-depth knowledge of their features, limitations and product roadmaps. If you have doubts about what to do with your current licence, we can help you make the right decision with no commitment.

How to make the transition without losing data or time

If you decide to update your DELSOL licence or migrate to a cloud version, the technical process is simpler than it seems, provided it is done in an orderly manner. These are the usual steps:

  1. Audit of the current installation: check which version you have, how many users are on it, which historical data you need to keep and whether there are integrations with other systems (Excel, external ERP, AEAT portal).
  2. Choosing the right plan: the most expensive plan is not always the best. A freelancer with basic invoicing needs does not need the same plan as an accounting firm with 200 clients. Your partner helps you size correctly.
  3. Data migration: DELSOL offers import/export tools between its own versions. For data from previous financial years, it is advisable to export in a compatible format before uninstalling the old version.
  4. Configuration and parameterisation: invoice series, VAT types, accounting chart of accounts, company data, AEAT connections. This phase generates the most errors when done without help.
  5. Team training: even though the programmes are familiar, cloud versions have a different interface. A training session prevents weeks of frustration.
  6. Tax validation: check that VAT returns, income tax declarations and, where applicable, SII are working correctly before the trial period ends.

Frequently asked questions

Can I still use Factusol or Contasol for free in 2026?

Both Factusol and Contasol have moved to a paid subscription model. Both offer a 30-day free trial with full access, but once that period ends a paid plan is required to keep using the programme. If you need to adapt your software to Verifactu before 2027, you will need an active, up-to-date paid version. Continuing with an expired or outdated version means accepting the risk of not complying with current tax regulations.

What is the difference between the desktop and cloud versions of DELSOL?

The desktop version is installed on your computer and data is stored locally. The cloud version works from the browser, allows access from any device, facilitates remote working and simplifies automatic updates. For teams with more than one user or working from different locations, the cloud version is usually more practical. The cost is slightly higher in the monthly version, but it eliminates local server maintenance expenses.

Is DELSOL adapted to Verifactu?

Factusol and FactuGes (from Aplifisa, another TeamSystem group brand) are in the process of adapting to the requirements of RD 1007/2023. It is important to clarify that there is no homologation process on the part of the AEAT: the manufacturer issues a responsible declaration that its software complies with the technical specifications of the regulation. The obligation comes into force on 1 January 2027 for legal entities and 1 July 2027 for freelancers. To ensure your version will be adapted in time, it is advisable to contract a paid plan with active support and keep it updated.

What if I am an accounting firm using DELSOL for multiple clients?

Accounting firms that manage the accounts or payroll of multiple clients with Contasol or Nominasol generally need the higher-capacity versions (Contasol Elite or multi-company plans). There is also the Aplifisa suite, designed specifically for professional firms, which includes tax management, payroll, accounting with SII, invoicing adapted to Verifactu and practice management modules. If your firm has grown and basic DELSOL versions are no longer sufficient, it is worth exploring whether Aplifisa is a better fit for your way of working.
